Swan Song ~ a lighthearted fun episode shot in a documentary style to convey a different approach in filming.. It took us [the audience] out of our comfort zone in how we even watch a Castle episode every week. Plus, even the shakiness of the camera, candid [informal] comments and somewhat distracting continuity of even the clothes Beckett was wearing in consecutive scenes truly did "break" all the rules for scene to scene consistency. So many things are going in every scene to where you are forced to pay attention to everything.. and perhaps catch up with laughing during the commercials. We the audience were in a constant level of disruption from our normal viewing habits - as intended. Once and actor looks directly at the camera, "we" immediately are in the scene with them. And as we learned from Stana herself in a recent interview at USC, it must be difficult to actually LOOK at the camera that youve been trained to NOT look at for so many years. So.. Whatd you think? We cant wait to hear your thoughts in the STR Round Table right after the latest news about/from Stana and the ratings from last nights episode, which was written by Rob Hanning and directed by David M. Barrett [his 4th episode of Castle]. Hope you will be able to join us tonight :) Photo credits/copyright[at left]: ABC Studios/Network
