Unearthing the Secrets of The Green River Killer

Throughout the 80's and 90's, The area around Seattle, Washington was gripped by fear. Fear that a serial killer was freely roaming the streets killing prostitutes. Many of the victim's remains were found in the area of the Green River giving name to the nameless, faceless killer. In 2001 police were finally able to arrest a man named Gary Leon Ridgway as he was leaving his job at the Kenworth plant in Renton, Washington and he eventually admitted to and was convicted of killing a total of 48 women, but he confessed to killing even more. As part of a plea bargain that spared him the death penalty, Ridgway agreed to show authorities where he had dumped his victims' bodies. Up until now Ridgway refused to speak to the press but he did have contact with one man, a former Air Force OSI investigator who believed that the victims' families deserved to know where their loved ones remain ended up. He formed an organization of volunteers who have spent weekends for the past five years combing through the brush, using technology and information from Ridgway himself to uncover the secrets of the Green River Killer.
