With every episode, it is our hope to inspire listeners to make a difference in the world around them. Our next guest, Tara Tappart Ph.D., combines professional background with remarkable heart to help veterans “use the arts to take healing into their own hands.” Tara is an award-winning scholar, researcher, editor and writer, curator and collections manager, archivist and librarian, and tutor. She earned her Ph.D. at George Washington University, and has earned fellowships and awards ever since. Tara's initiatives have led to note-worthy articles in The Washington Post and The New Yorker, among others. Her constant thirst to do more, led her to the Arts, Military + Healing. Together, with a team of volunteers, Tara led a series of workshops and events, alongside cultural and educational institutions. Service members, veterans, military families, healing arts practitioners, and artists attended That shaped Tara's roll as Exhibition Curator for the Combat Paper Project. The cathartic outlet has led to nationwide workshops, hundreds of sponsorships, gallery collections, and hailed media reviews. Healing the incomprehensible experiences of war is possible through powerful tools found in the arts. Join us as we share a window into veterans' hearts. Explore background on YouTube, Facebook, Website, Pinterest, and more.
