Death Cafe Northern Virginia The objective of Death Café is "To increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives". Our first Death Café was amazing! Folks shared their thoughts and feeling around the word DEATH. When people come together in a relaxed setting, to have an honest conversation about death it opens our mind to possibilities, and we do this while enjoying coffee, tea and cake. Death Cafés are a worldwide movement, brought to the USA by Jon Underwood. Hello, my name is Kathie Conn and I began my death journey in 2004 when I became an End of Life Healing Transition Celebrant.®. As celebrant I am a professionally trained creator and conductor of all nature of ceremonies. This calling is unique in the United States, in that non-religious persons, or persons with spiritual beliefs that are not aligned to a particular church, can become legally qualified to perform rites of marriage & death. More information can be found at http://www.deathcafe.com. Learn more by listening in to the interview and talk. “Oh Helen dear, there is going to be another gathering of nice folks to chat about “death”. Won't that be exciting! Just think, tea and cake and lively conversations. It brings back memories. Let's get new hats and join the party!” The death cafe will be facilitated by Kathie Conn, Certified End of Life Healing/Transition Celebrant® and Rev. Barbara Watts, RN Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant® Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deathcafenova?fref=ts
